Skate-Off Nominations

Competitors are nominated by the judges to compete in the skate-off. At least two judges or the referee has to nominate a skater by putting a star next to their name on the judging sheet during their event.

It is possible for a competitor to be nominated for more than one event. In this case, we ask that you prepare for the second skate-off as quickly as possible, and we will do our best to leave you enough time to do so. If a competitor only wishes to participate in one skate-off. or not participate at all, they may choose to do so. The competitor must advise the registration desk of their decision. If a competitor is nominated more than once, the competitor may choose the order of the programs to be skated.

NOTE: Competitors may be nominated multiple times but may only skate a maximum of two programs in any category.

Skate-Off Winner Selection

Skate-offs are not judged with CJS. The skate-off judges mark their first, second, third choice, then discuss their choices and come to a consensus.

Note:

On May 24, 2022, the CSSC Board made these clarifications:

A competitor can only win a special award once. There are no limitations on skate-off awards.

The Accardo award winner does not have to be nominated for the skate-off, nor win their event, to win the award.

The Accardo award is the top showcase award; therefore, the Accardo award winner does not win a skate-off award. If the Accardo winner is first in their skate-off, the skate-off award will go to the runner-up.
